Community members and students standing in welding shop talking

On October 26th, members of the community, students, parents, and local program partners were invited to visit the new and improved EAC Regional Training Center welding shop.  After COVID, CVIT was concerned that we may not be able to continue offering the Welding program to our students.  However, thanks to partnerships by Freeport McMoran and EAC, the welding program has been refreshed.  Ernie Baca and John Freeman, currently employed in the welding industry, have joined the EAC team as new instructors who are passionate about teaching adult and high school students alike.  CVIT contributed a whopping $40,000 to purchase new equipment, and Freeport McMoran made an impressive donation as well.

There was a wonderful turnout of community members, young and old, who were able to meet the instructors and students, witness student welding demonstrations, and see the new equipment in action.  If you missed the open house, but are interested in touring the facility, reach out to a CVIT staff member to schedule an appointment!
